Scree — Kelly-Ann Desouza
Scree is an ongoing animated project that started in my third year at ACAD. Using the Pixar story spline, I created a narrative that in my mind could eventually be rendered as a final animation or illustrated children’s book. The content is for all ages and revolves around themes such as bullying, identity and staying true to yourself. Scree is about a tiny blue bird that can only say “scree”. While being mocked for his inability to sing beautifully, Scree discovers that the very thing setting him apart from others is what makes him unique and special. The story was inspired by J.K. Rowling’s mythological creature the Joberknoll in her book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It is said that the Joberknoll is a tiny blue-specked bird that lets out a loud scream before it dies.
